Job summary

Lakeridge Health in Oshawa is seeking an Indigenous Outreach Liaison to advance Indigenous cancer care initiatives across the Central East Region. You will collaborate with Indigenous communities, healthcare partners, and regional leads to develop programs, coordinate outreach, and report on outcomes.

The role emphasizes cultural safety, ongoing knowledge sharing, grant support, and travel across the region; an ideal candidate has lived experience and a strong background in community engagement

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Health Promotion, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent.
• Lived experience is preferred with knowledge of Indigenous worldviews and health priorities.
• Minimum two years experience in healthcare, Indigenous health, community development, or related environment.
• Knowledge of TRC Calls to Action and Indigenous governance structures.
• Experience in project management, program development, and evaluation.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
• Experience with grant writing and funding applications is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, leaders, and service providers.
• Support community-driven priorities related to cancer care and prevention.
• Act as liaison between Indigenous communities, healthcare organizations, and regional partners.
• Coordinate community outreach activities and engagement sessions across the Central East Region.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate Indigenous-focused cancer care initiatives and programs.
• Collaborate with communities and partners to identify needs and priorities.
• Monitor outcomes and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Prepare reports and inform planning with Indigenous engagement and governance.
