Job summary

North End Community Health Centre seeks a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) to support tenants in the Overlook harm-reduction housing project. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, conducting individualized support, eviction prevention planning, and community engagement.

The role emphasizes equity, trauma-informed care, and decolonization, with duties including tenancy onboarding, court accompaniment, and programming to connect tenants to community resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited University.
• 2-5 years' experience preferred.
• Licensed and in good standing with Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW).
• Understanding of the impacts of the social determinants of health.
• Experience and skill in group facilitation and programming coordination.
• Practice rooted in person-centered, anti-Black racism, anti-oppression, harm-reduction, trauma informed care and decolonization.
• Uphold provincial and federal ethical standards of practice (NSCSW and CASW).
• Knowledge and experience of working with people who have complex needs and who are experiencing substance use, homelessness and/or poverty.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to tenants based on individualized support plans, including eviction prevention planning and accountability conversations.
• Assist with court accompaniment and tenant onboarding, move-ins, and selection.
• Develop and deliver programming to build community connections within the building and connect tenants to broader community resources.
• Apply an equity lens to understand needs related to homelessness, poverty, substance use, trauma, and marginalization.
• Collaborate with RN, MSW, Indigenous Cultural Support, Peer Support and HRHWs as part of a multidisciplinary team.
