Job summary

Placements24 in East London, Eastern Cape is seeking a reliable General Maintenance Worker to join the facilities management team. You will perform a wide range of repairs and maintenance to keep the premises safe, clean, and functional, working independently or with a team.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with building systems, be comfortable using hand and power tools, and possess strong problem-solving and communication skills to handle diverse tasks daily.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a general maintenance or handyman role.
• Broad knowledge of building systems and repair techniques.
• Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and working in various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
• Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs.
• Maintain building systems such as HVAC filters, lighting, and basic fixtures.
• Respond to and resolve maintenance requests from staff and management.
• Ensure grounds and common areas are kept tidy and well-maintained.
• Assist with equipment setup, moving, and general facility upkeep.
