Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter for an industrial plant in the East London area. You will install, maintain, repair and overhaul a broad range of mechanical equipment to minimize downtime and uphold high production standards.

The role requires a trade qualification (N3 or equivalent) and proven industrial experience. You will work with pumps, motors, gearboxes and conveyors, using welding, fabrication and precise measurement tools, following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter (N3 or equivalent).
• Proven experience in an industrial plant or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including pumps, motors, gearboxes and conveyors.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Commitment to safety regulations and proactive hazard identification.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble and commission new mechanical equipment per specifications.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections and lubrication.
• Diagnose and repair faults in pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Read mechanical drawings and manuals to guide work.
• Carry out welding, fabrication and machining as required.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their industrial plant operations in East London . You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a wide range of mechanical equipment and machinery. This hands-on role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our production facilities. Working as part of a dedicated maintenance team, you will contribute directly to minimizing plant downtime and maintaining high production standards within the manufacturing sector of the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and commission new mechanical equipment and machinery according to specifications and blueprints.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and lubrication of plant machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to guide repair and installation work.
• Carry out welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as required for equipment repairs.
