Job summary

Winnipeg School Division is seeking Educational Assistant D positions (6.0 hours per day) to provide instructional and general assistance to students in Inclusion Support Services programs and integrated settings. The role supports students with severe physical, behavioural, mental, or emotional challenges and assists teachers as required within a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications

• Complete secondary education or equivalent related work experience.
• Minimum 1 year experience with students with social, academic, and/or behavioural difficulties.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Educational Assistant Diploma or Certificate an asset.
• Valid Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional assistance to individual or small groups of students requiring adapted and/or modified instructional programs.
• Assists with reinforcing skills identified by teachers; helps with assignments and study skills.
• Implements daily programming including clinical programs; modifies materials as required.
• Assists with organization of instructional materials and devices.
• Provides general assistance, supervises students, and supports speech/language therapy as needed.
• Assists with IEPs/IBPs and behavior reinforcement; performs simple physiotherapy exercises as directed.
• Assists with daily living skills, mobility, and transportation support; accompanies students during activities and events.

Education

Complete secondary education or equivalent related work experience

Minimum of 1 year experience with students with difficulties

Educational Assistant Diploma or Certificate an asset

First Aid and CPR certificates

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certificate an asset
