Job summary

Holy Spirit Catholic School Division seeks an Education Assistant at St. Joseph School in Coaldale to support students with diverse needs under supervision. The role requires engaging with learners, assisting with personal care, and applying communication supports in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Education Assistant requires a Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent.
• Brain Story Certification is preferred.
• Experience with students with special programming needs is advantageous.
• First Aid training is required.
• ASL knowledge is an asset.
• Augmentative communication systems experience is beneficial.
• Experience supporting students toward educational goals with multiple barriers.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to children with a wide range of needs under supervision of the Inclusive Education Lead, classroom teacher and principal.
• Assist with complex sensory needs, behaviours and communication systems as required.
• Engage students actively in all aspects of their educational program and assist with personal care tasks as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in all school matters.
• Carry out tasks assigned by daily and program supervisors.
