Cummins Inc. in Ottawa is seeking an In-Shop 310T Diesel Technician / Truck & Coach Mechanic to join our team in a stable, safety‑driven shop environment. You will troubleshoot, repair and rebuild engine products in workshop settings while coaching less experienced technicians.

Qualifications

  • Red seal 310T certification is required.
  • Locally valid driving permit and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of engine products.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Experience with OEM diagnostic software (e.g., INSITE) preferred.
  • 5 year motor vehicle report free from major violations.

Responsabilités

  • Diagnose and repair engines following documented procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance based on engine assessment.
  • Complete required documentation (work orders, time sheets, warranty claims, quality forms).
  • Maintain clean and safe work area and tools.
  • Mentor junior technicians to follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental policies and report incidents.

Job Summary:

Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians

  • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Apply documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engine.
  • Complete required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens.
  • Complete training in line with skill and business requirements.
  • Maintain work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Adhere to and ensures adherence of more junior technicians to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.

Diploma, Certification, license:

  • Red seal 310T certification is required for this role.
  • Locally valid driving permit

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience:
  • Good customer relation skills.
  • Diagnostic, electrical, chassis, and heavy‑duty engine experience is an asset.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with OEM diagnostic software (e.g., INSITE).
  • Flexibility to attend service calls or support other locations as needed.
  • Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products. About the role:
  • Engine repairs, diagnostics, aftertreatment work, chassis work.

  • Regular working hours are from 7am to 330pm-flexibility to work extra hours is required.

-This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations and must meet the conditions of the company policy.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
