Job summary

Extendicare seeks an Immigration Operations Advisor to help shape a newly established function. You will bridge HR, Talent Acquisition and operations to assess immigration opportunities and risks impacting recruitment, retention and continuity.

You will translate complex immigration requirements into practical business guidance, collaborate with executives, and develop processes, tools and dashboards. This is a hybrid role based in Markham, Ontario, offering growth and cross-functional exposure.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, Immigration, Law, Public Administration, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in HR advisory, workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, immigration operations, global mobility, compliance, or other business partnering role.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with business leaders and guiding on complex people/workforce matters.
  • Strong business acumen, risk assessment, and influencing decisions.
  • Experience analyzing data to support workforce planning and operational decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; comfortable with AI-enabled tools.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders, HR, Talent Acquisition, Payroll and operational stakeholders to support recruitment, retention and workforce planning initiatives where immigration considerations may impact business outcomes.
  • Assess employee eligibility and recommend appropriate employer-supported immigration pathways based on business needs.
  • Identify workforce continuity risks and develop mitigation strategies related to work authorization, permit expiries, recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Analyze workforce demographics and immigration-related data to identify trends, workforce risks and opportunities to support proactive workforce planning.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and executive summaries to help leaders understand workforce composition, permit expiry risks, retention considerations and immigration program utilization.
  • Conduct NOC, wage and employment-condition assessments to support immigration applications and program compliance.
  • Review and provide quality assurance on immigration applications, documentation and case strategies to ensure accuracy and alignment with program requirements.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex immigration matters and provide recommendations on risk management and business impact.
  • Develop and maintain immigration-related processes, tools, policies, training materials and operational guidance documentation.
  • Monitor immigration program changes and translate regulatory requirements into practical business recommendations.
  • Share subject matter expertise with other HR and operational stakeholders through training, education, and consultation.
