Job summary

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust in Peterborough is seeking an Imaging Assistant to support the Breast Imaging team. The role involves assisting Radiologists, keeping waiting areas orderly, and maintaining a safe clinical environment while providing high standards of patient care for screening and symptomatic patients.

The post holder will prepare nursing trolleys, transfer patients as required, and assist with paperwork and clinic management within the Breast Unit.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nursing trolleys for interventional procedures.
• Ensure timely transfer of patients to or from the waiting areas as required.
• Assist Radiologist or Interventional Practitioners during procedures, acting as a chaperone.
• Assist with the maintenance of a safe care environment, including the preparation and cleaning of rooms and equipment with reference to infection control to establish a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Manage symptomatic clinics as part of the clinical support team.
• Assist with collation of all paperwork in accordance with the right results policy.
• Keep the department stocked with appropriate consumables.
• Undertake basic pharmacy and departmental ad-hoc ordering.
• Supervise the waiting areas, assisting in the daily cleaning and tidiness.
• Be prepared to undergo the process of clinical supervision and regular appraisals.
• Attend team briefings.

Imaging Assistant - Peterborough | North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust

Provides assistance to Clinicians within the Breast Unit, by performing various tasks primarily within the Breast Imaging team. Providing high standards of patient care for both screening and symptomatic patients. The role is pivotal in supporting Radiologists, Breast Surgeons, Radiographic team, Clerical staff and the Breast Care Nurses.

The post holder will:

• Prepare nursing trolleys for interventional procedures.
• Ensure timely transfer of patients to or from the waiting areas as required.
• Assist Radiologist or Interventional Practitioners during procedures, acting as a chaperone.
• Assist with the maintenance of a safe care environment, including the preparation and cleaning of rooms and equipment with reference to infection control to establish a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Manage symptomatic clinics as part of the clinical support team.

Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.
