Job summary

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for telemetry in the ICU on a temporary part-time basis. You will provide direct patient care, plan and coordinate nursing activities, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements include current RPN registration with Ontario, CPR-HCP, IV certification, ACLS/PALS desirable, and at least two years in acute care. Availability for all shifts is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have current RPN license in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing in an acute care setting.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to function as a team member.
• Ability to work independently and under stress and crisis situations.
• Must be available to work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Administer direct nursing care for patients.
• Plan, organize and deliver nursing care in various settings.
• Communicate patient needs and priorities to other staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Interact with physicians and departments regarding patient care.
• Participate in quality control activities and escalate issues.
• Perform other duties including occasional escort duties for transfers.
• Initiate and assist in Code Blue & Rapid Response.
• Participate in ongoing education to maintain competency.
