Job summary

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Hydrogeologist / Hydrogeological Engineer to join the CTCHO Geoscience Services team in Alberta, Canada. The role focuses on groundwater source and disposal development across Cenovus' thermal and conventional assets, reporting to the Leader of Hydrogeological Engineering.

Ideal candidates will have a P.Geo or P.Eng designation with APEGA, 5+ years of relevant experience, and strong capabilities in hydrogeology, groundwater management, and cross-disciplinary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Civil, Geological, or Environmental Engineering.
• P.Geo (Hydrogeologist) or P.Eng (Hydrogeological Engineer) designation with APEGA.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
• Strong technical expertise in hydrogeology and groundwater management, with knowledge of applicable regulations.
• Proven ability to evaluate complex technical challenges and develop risk-informed solutions.
• Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Delineate and map aquifers and aquitards.
• Characterize groundwater flow systems.
• Plan and execute groundwater exploration and aquifer testing.
• Conduct cumulative effects and interference assessments.
• Contribute to integrated water management planning.
• Monitor, optimize, and sustain aquifer production, disposal performance, and containment.
• Develop surveillance programs and analyze data.
• Provide regulatory reporting and stakeholder communication.
