Job summary

FortisBC is seeking a Regional Engineer in Castlegar, BC to lead capital planning for hydro generation assets. You will balance risk, cost, and regulatory requirements while guiding projects from planning through execution.

Ideally, you have 4–7 years in hydroelectric generation and a P.Eng. designation or eligibility, with strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and coordinate across technical teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 4–7 years of hydroelectric experience; P.Eng. designation or eligibility.
• Strong knowledge of electrical generation systems, asset management principles, and applicable regulatory requirements, standards, and codes.
• Proven ability to analyze complex technical and business issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop defensible budgets and business cases.

Responsibilities

• Develop and justify a portfolio of capital projects and programs for FortisBC's generating facilities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Project Management, and others to identify needs, evaluate options, and develop budgets and business cases.
• Provide technical support, maintain capital plans, and support regulatory and approval processes.
• Monitor project execution to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and within scope, budget and schedule.
• Help ensure investments are prioritized and sequenced based on risk reduction and business value.
