Job summary

Payworks is hiring a Database Administrator to support SQL Server systems, ensure availability, performance, and security. You will work under a Manager and Senior DBA in a collaborative environment at our Calgary office with a hybrid schedule.

The role emphasizes backups, security, automation scripting, and close collaboration with developers and IT teams. A Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3–5 years of database administration experience.
• Proficient understanding of database management systems and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with backup and recovery tools.
• Ability to write and maintain automation scripts.
• Experience with database migration and upgrade projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize database backups, restores, query execution and performance tuning.
• Monitor database performance and tune databases to optimize efficiency.
• Support infrastructure in routine maintenance and upgrades of database systems.
• Provide timely support for database-related issues and collaborate with developers.
• Document configurations, procedures, and operations; generate performance reports.
