Job summary

The City of New Westminster is seeking a Manager, Recreation Facilities – Building Operations and Maintenance to lead the Parks and Recreation Department's portfolio of community recreation facilities, arenas, and pools. You will guide asset management, preventative maintenance, and building operations with a focus on safety, reliability, and sustainability.

You will manage a diverse team, oversee budgeting and capital renewal plans, and collaborate with Engineering and Public Works to align

Qualifications

• Degree in recreation administration, business administration, building operations, or related field.
• 10 years of progressive management/leadership experience in recreation, preferably ice arena and aquatics.
• Ice Facility Operator certification (TSBC) and willingness to obtain Refrigeration Operator certification.
• Strong leadership, communication, and safety compliance skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership for facility maintenance and preventive maintenance across recreation facilities.
• Oversee operations, safety standards, and maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate after-hours emergencies and urgent maintenance to ensure public safety.
• Lead diverse team including exempt and unionized staff and contractors.
• Administer booking of facility spaces and lease administration.
