Job summary

The City of St. Albert is seeking an Economic Development Officer to help grow a thriving local economy by engaging with businesses, analyzing data, and supporting retention and expansion initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager of Business Retention & Expansion, you will coordinate events, prepare reports, and collaborate across departments to advance economic development priorities. Hybrid work arrangements are available after probation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma with relevant experience in economic development, business engagement, or related fields.
• Experience in economic development, sales, marketing, CRM, or commercial/industrial development is preferred.
• Certification or membership in economic development associations is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses and community stakeholders.
• Conduct business outreach, research, and data analysis to identify opportunities and trends.
• Support development and implementation of business retention and expansion initiatives.
• Coordinate business-focused events, workshops, networking, and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Develop reports, presentations, and briefing materials to support decision-making.
• Serve as a point of contact for business inquiries and connect businesses with City resources.
