Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking a Financial Analyst to support reinsurance accounting within the Reinsurance Accounting team. You will handle reconciliations, journal entries, and period-end close while coordinating with internal teams to resolve variances.

The role requires 1–3 years in accounting/financial reporting, exposure to IFRS 17, and strong Excel skills; Power BI and Oracle Fusion experience are assets. Hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related discipline.
• Progress toward a CPA designation is preferred.
• 1–3 years of progressive accounting/financial reporting experience.
• Reinsurance experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with IFRS 17 and reinsurance accounting is an asset.
• Strong Excel skills including lookups and pivot tables; experience with Power BI is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly reinsurance accounting for premiums, claims, commissions, and related entries with clear business rationale.
• Interpret treaty provisions and translate into accurate billing, statements, and settlements.
• Produce management and audit support schedules; analyze movements and investigate variances.
• Extract, validate, and reconcile data across source systems to the GL; support process improvements.
