Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst in North York, ON, to contribute to IFRS-based financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory returns within a P&C insurance environment.

The role requires CPA near completion, strong IFRS knowledge (IFRS 17/18), and experience with Business Central and Excel. It is a hybrid position with duties spanning month-end close, reinsurance analysis, and audit support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA designation completed or in active pursuit; ACCA/CA equivalents relevant.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS for insurance (IFRS 17/18).
• Experience in financial reporting, including IFRS-based statements and regulatory returns.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Insurance industry experience, preferably P&C.
• Proficiency with Business Central and ERP platforms.
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
• Experience with month-end/quarter-end close and reconciliations.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting including P&C1 and P&C4.

Responsibilities

• Prepare IFRS-based financial results and reporting packages.
• Explain variances across balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Prepare month-end and quarter-end journal entries (premiums, claims, reinsurance, expenses, investments).
• Track reinsurance recoverables and settlements; manage cash settlements with reinsurers.
• Prepare reinsurance schedules and regulatory reports for ceded business.
• Prepare P&C1 and P&C4 returns for regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with actuarial and finance teams; provide executive-ready commentary.
• Assist in year-end audit file preparation and liaise with auditors.
