Job summary

Fidelity Canada is seeking a Portfolio Engineer to build scalable portfolio construction and monitoring tools in a hybrid Toronto/Mississauga setting. You will collaborate with portfolio management, risk, compliance, and technology teams to enhance risk reporting, data quality, and customization using advanced analytics.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in portfolio analytics, strong Python/R and SQL skills, and experience in investment technology.

Qualifications

• University degree in finance, economics, CS, math, statistics or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in portfolio analytics/portfolio engineering, risk analytics, or related investment tech.
• Demonstrated programming experience (Python/R) and SQL in production.
• Experience building/maintaining portfolio analytics or construction workflows.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to building scalable portfolio construction and rebalance tools.
• Internally scope the systems, data and infrastructure required for systematic construction.
• Map data dependencies to the portfolio construction process.
• Partner with internal resources to build a center of excellence around portfolio construction.
• Develop first generation tools to implement systematic portfolio construction.
• Maintain investment monitoring and risk reporting data pipelines.
• Apply advanced statistical analysis to enhance risk modelling and customization.
• Collaborate across teams to implement controlled workflows aligned with governance.
• Improve process efficiency through automation, standardization, and documentation.
