Job summary

IGM Financial Inc. is recruiting an internship for students to learn financial planning, client relationships, and the business side of wealth management in a hybrid Halifax setting.

You will work under a Wealth Advisor, gaining practical experience in client service, documentation, and planning support throughout a January–April 2027 term. The role offers a base salary range prorated for the term, with opportunities for mentorship, training, and potential part-time or full-time paths after

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a post-secondary program in financial planning, finance, accounting, business administration, commerce, economics, or related field.
• Strong interest in financial planning, wealth management, or client-facing advisory work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a Wealth Advisor and learn day-to-day activities.
• Support client meeting preparation, follow-up, and documentation.
• Assist with organizing and updating client information and financial planning files.
• Learn the financial planning process from discovery to ongoing service.
• Support business development initiatives and client engagement activities.
• Contribute to practice management activities.
• Build understanding of investment, retirement, estate, tax, insurance, and wealth planning concepts.
• Participate in training, mentorship, and learning opportunities.
• Support special projects aligned with the practice and your background.
