Job summary

IG Wealth Management offers a winter internship (Jan–Apr 2027) in Halifax, 37.5 hours/week, under a Wealth Advisor. The role provides exposure to client service, financial planning support, and business development activities, with mentorship and learning opportunities.

Salary ranges from $49,000 to $51,000 annually (prorated for the term) based on study year, location and experience; paid time off is included. Eligible candidates must be able to work full‑time for the duration.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a post‑secondary program in financial planning, finance, accounting, business administration, commerce, economics, or a related field.
• A strong interest in financial planning, wealth management, entrepreneurship, or client‑facing advisory work.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A client‑focused mindset and an interest in making a positive impact in people’s lives.
• Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a Wealth Advisor and learn about the day-to-day activities of a financial planning practice.
• Support client meeting preparation, follow-up, and documentation.
• Assist with organizing and updating client information and financial planning files.
• Learn about the financial planning process, including discovery, analysis, recommendations, implementation, and ongoing service.
• Support business development initiatives such as market research, community outreach, prospecting preparation, and client engagement activities.
• Contribute to practice management activities that help support an efficient and professional client experience.
• Build your understanding of investment, retirement, estate, tax, insurance, and wealth planning concepts.
• Participate in training, mentorship, and learning opportunities related to the financial planning profession.
• Support special projects based on the needs of the practice and your interests, skills, and academic background.
