Job summary

FirstOntario Credit Union in Hamilton, ON is seeking a Business Analyst, Commercial Services to support Commercial Services goals by analyzing and advising on products and services for members, and to assist with risk and portfolio management.

The role involves preparing loan proposals, due diligence, credit analysis, reports, and collaboration with internal partners to structure deals and ensure policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in business or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Up to 4 years of Commercial lending experience or commercial credit adjudication experience.
• Experience in Real Estate Development and Construction.
• Knowledge of risk and warning trends on Commercial Loans and credit.
• Familiarity with small business and commercial banking products and services.
• Detail-oriented with strong numerical data accuracy and budget discipline.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Willing to work flexible hours to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Support the Account Manager, Commercial Services or Credit Solutions by analyzing and preparing high-quality proposals with due diligence for medium to high complexity loan proposals.
• Develop terms, pricing, conditions and covenants while ensuring thorough credit analysis and sound account management.
• Prepare loan packages and negotiate with internal partners to ensure policy compliance.
• Prepare reports and assist with compliance-related tasks.
• Prepare credit analysis/memos including portfolio modeling across asset classes.
• Gather items required for administration of commercial files.
• Adjudicate and review Commercial lending, risk and reward.
• Meet annual review and risk management standards for the Commercial Portfolio and structuring transactions.
• Complete detailed commercial reviews and mitigate emerging risks.
• Interact with members to gather information and respond to inquiries.
• Represent FirstOntario at community events and networking opportunities.
• Provide support and due diligence for larger, more complex credit requests.
• Manage a small portfolio of commercial borrowers.
• Prepare more complex reports as requested.
• Assist with training less experienced Business Analysts.
• Participate in community events to represent FirstOntario.
