Job summary

Stern Cohen LLP is a Toronto-based accounting firm focused on privately held businesses and not-for-profits. The Intermediate Accountant will join the Assurance Team, focusing on audits, reviews, compilations, and tax engagements, reporting to managers and collaborating with partners and clients.

The role requires CPA designation or pursuit, 2–3 years in public accounting, strong client-service orientation, and proficiency with Caseware, TaxPrep, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Audit and review engagements, including planning documents and financial statements.
• Prepare compilations for owner-managed businesses in various industries.
• Prepare personal and corporate tax returns and related filings.
• Correspond with clients and understand their businesses to anticipate needs within budget and timelines.
• Develop tax knowledge for personal and corporate contexts.
• Maintain knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and updates.
• Contribute to firm growth and community.
