Job summary

Magna International is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to service and maintain industrial HVAC systems at the Deco Automotive paint line facility in Ontario. You will diagnose RTUs, AHUs, and gas-fired equipment, ensuring safe, compliant operation and quick response to alarms.

Requirements include a 313A Refrigeration/AC license, G1 license, 5+ years in industrial HVAC, and a college diploma in Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic – 313A License.
  • Valid Ontario Gas Fitter 1 (G1) License.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial or large-scale HVAC maintenance.
  • College diploma in Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning or related trade.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair industrial HVAC systems including RTUs and AHUs.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration circuits: compressors, condensers, evaporators and controls.
  • Maintain chilled water systems, pumps, cooling towers, and heat exchangers.
  • Respond to hot calls and alarms to restore HVAC functions quickly.
  • Install and service gas-fired equipment including furnaces, boilers, and ovens for paint line.
  • Perform PM rounds and document findings; read blueprints and schematics.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial HVAC equipment, gas-fired systems, and related facility infrastructure.Salary Range: $34/hr - $47/hrMinimum RequirementsRequired Licenses & Certifications:Valid Ontario Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic – 313A License.Valid Ontario Gas Fitter 1 (G1) License.Valid "G" Class Driver’s License.Minimum of **5 years of experience** in industrial or large-scale commercial HVAC maintenance and facilities repair.Proven experience working in a manufacturing plant environment; automotive or paint shop experience is a strong asset.Completion of a college diploma in Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning, or a related trade apprenticeship.Advanced knowledge of industrial refrigeration cycles, combustion principles, and control systems.Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues independently, using diagnostic tools and schematics.Strong understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and the ability to interpret system alarms and trends.Solid mechanical aptitude, including the use of hand and power tools, brazing, and basic welding.Experience with plumbing repairs and preventative maintenance programs.Job Specific ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, maintain, and repair industrial HVAC systems, including rooftop units (RTUs), air handling units (AHUs), make-up air units, and exhaust systems, with a specific focus on those serving the paint line environment.Perform troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration circuits, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and associated controls. This includes brazing, soldering, charging, and leak detection.Maintain and repair chilled water systems, pumps, cooling towers, and heat exchangers critical to plant processes and comfort cooling.Respond to hot calls and system alarms to restore heating, ventilation, and cooling functions quickly, minimizing disruption to production.Install, inspect, and service gas-fired equipment, including industrial furnaces, boilers, tube heaters, and process ovens related to the paint line.Ensure all gas systems are operating safely and efficiently, complying with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) regulations and manufacturer specifications.Troubleshoot and repair gas train components, including valves, regulators, and burners.Perform a variety of facility maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting and repairing plumbing systems (pipes, drains, water fountains, and sanitary fixtures).Assist the wider maintenance team with breakdowns and repairs on plant equipment as needed, contributing to a multi-craft maintenance environment.Conduct regular preventative maintenance (PM) rounds, documenting findings and reporting on the condition of facility systems.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S principles and all health and safety protocols (PPE, Lock-out/Tag-out, WHMIS).Complete and close all work orders accurately using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), tracking parts used and time spent.Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and wiring schematics to determine system designs, materials needed, and troubleshooting procedures.Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, including the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).General ResponsibilitiesAble to rotate shifts as need to meet learning schedules.Exemplary attitude towards housekeeping, safety, and company policies.Work within the guidelines of the Deco Employee Handbook.Commitment to continuous improvement and workplace safety.IATF16949 & ISO14001 awareness and adherence.Lean Manufacturing and 5S concepts awareness and adherence.Accepts personal responsibility to plan and conduct their work safely in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as company policies and guidelines.Responsible for Good House Keeping in your area.Other duties as may be required.Awareness, Unity, Empowerment:At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
