Job summary

O'Dell HVAC Group is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to join our Ottawa service team. You will support installs, startups, and service visits with contractors, troubleshooting, and hands-on field work during regular hours, not on-call.

You will troubleshoot, commission systems, and provide phone/remote support while collaborating with sales and manufacturers for product layouts and technical materials. Strong communication and a commitment to reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed 313A Refrigeration Mechanic required.
• G1 Gas Technician certification required.
• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades.
• Valid G‑class driver’s license in good standing.
• Willing to travel within service territories.
• 3–5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC service experience.
• Proficient with computers and MS Office; tech-savvy for modern HVAC systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication; reliable and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Attend customer sites to provide hands-on support during installs, commissioning, troubleshooting, and related duties.
• Startup and commission new systems with contractors, ensuring safe and smooth operation.
• Provide virtual or phone support to installers for wiring, piping, programming, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Sales to assist with product layout and integration across a wide range of products.
• Coordinate with manufacturers to obtain technical information and support materials.
• Assist with processing warranty claims with contractors and internal teams for timely resolution.
• Travel to manufacturer facilities for in-depth product training as required.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the HVAC Service Manager.

We are seeking an HVAC Service Technician to join our Service team. Reporting to the HVAC Service Manager, you will be working with our contractors during installs, start-ups, and helping services run smoothly from day one. You’ll provide expert support in the field and over the phone, troubleshoot technical issues, and get hands‑on with industry‑leading products.

This role is not an on-call position - regular working hours are on‑site between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

What You'll Be Doing

• Attend customer sites to provide hands‑on support during installs, commissioning, troubleshooting, and additional responsibilities as required

• Startup and commission new systems alongside contractors, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely

• Offer virtual or phone support to installers and technicians for assistance with wiring, piping, programming, and general troubleshooting as the expert voice on our product lineup.

• Collaborate with our Sales team to assist with product layout and integration across a wide range of products
• Connect with our manufacturers to obtain technical information and support materials
• Assist with processing warranty claims by working closely with contractors and our internal team to keep the process moving in a timely manner

• Travel to manufacturer facilities for in-depth product training as required

• Other responsibilities as assigned

What You Are

• Licensed 313A Refrigeration Mechanic and G1 Gas Technician

• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades

• Hold a valid G-class driver’s license in good standing and clean driver’s abstract

• Willing and able to travel within our service territories (territory dependent on location of hire)

• Three to five (3-5) years of experience with commercial and industrial HVAC service

• A solid understanding of computers and Microsoft Office, including openness to learning – computers and electronics are a large part of how we support modern HVAC systems

• Strong communication skills, both verbally and written

• Detail‑oriented and reliable, following through on deadlines and commitments to customers

• Dependable, punctual, and ready to lend a hand to team members

• Meet the physical requirements of the role, which include:

• Lifting up to 50 lbs

• Climbing stairs and ladders, and working at heights

• Bending, pushing, pulling, and kneeling

• Sitting for long periods of time while driving

• Working in extreme temperatures (heat and cold)
