Job summary

Daikin Applied Canada, Inc. is seeking a Jr. Maintenance Mechanic to join our Ottawa team, onsite. This full-time role includes formal apprenticeship training and hands-on work on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment.

You will learn operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various equipment, with safety and quality at the forefront, and opportunities for career growth within a global leader in HVAC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate’s Degree or HVAC certificate (preferred).
• 0-2+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accepted as an Apprentice by Local Union 787.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district.
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required.
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred).
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• The expected hourly rate for this position is $25.00 in ON.
• Benefits are provided through a local labor union and aligned to the CBA.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements.
• Safety-sensitive positions may require cannabis (marijuana) testing.
• All testing and employment decisions will comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Responsibilities

• Participate in formal apprenticeship training programs and complete required technical education.
• Learn the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment and machinery.
• Support maintenance teams in performing equipment repairs and facility maintenance activities.
• Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Help diagnose equipment issues and support troubleshooting efforts alongside experienced technicians.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing mechanical components.
• Maintain tools, machinery, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Safely operate and properly utilize hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and service records.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing work.

• The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered.
