Job summary

Daikin Applied in Toronto is seeking a full-time HVAC Journeyman to service a wide range of commercial and industrial equipment, including chillers and rooftop units.

You will receive comprehensive training and work with a team of professionals to diagnose, repair, and optimize systems while mentoring junior technicians and ensuring safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or technical HVAC certification preferred.
• 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility.
• Journeyman status by the union.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Local law training/certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test HVAC systems to verify functionality (chillers, rooftops, coils, and boilers).
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
• Maintain and inspect equipment to prevent breakdowns or callbacks.
• Perform intermediate/advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing.
• Lead apprenticeship-level technicians and provide hands-on guidance.
• Complete service documentation and billing reports in a timely manner.
• Follow safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and site-specific procedures.

Come be part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive everything we do!Location: Toronto, ON – OnsiteYour Responsibilities:Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubesRepair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiringMaintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacksPerform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipmentConduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipmentEducate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usageLead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units including the direction of apprentice level technicians through hands-on demonstration of the necessary stepsRecord and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely mannerDownload programs into commercial HVAC equipment and Micro controllers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performanceParticipate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site learning modulesMaintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill setsEnsure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheldComplete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelinesYour Qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDAssociates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experienceAccepted as Journeyman by the unionValid Driver’s License and acceptable driving recordRequired license(s) and/or training card as required by local law districtRotational Emergency Call Support availability as requiredPrevious experience in mentoring less experienced techniciansCurrent first aid / CPR card (preferred)Work visa sponsorship is not available for this positionThe expected hourly rate for this position is $70.57 in ON. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered.
