Job summary

The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) is seeking a casual Shift Engineer to oversee HVAC/R systems, ammonia refrigeration plant equipment, and building services at Hastings Park in Vancouver. The role supports events with hands-on maintenance and timely repairs.

You will work a variety of shifts, read blueprints, liaise with event managers, and document preventative maintenance. A 4th class power engineering certificate and a BC driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a 4th class power engineering certificate.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with clean driving record.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of HVAC/R and ammonia refrigeration equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operation/maintenance of HVAC/R systems.
• Operation of ammonia refrigeration plant equipment.
• Operate building, mechanical and electrical equipment with DDC services.
• Perform and document preventative/demand maintenance on related equipment.
• Operate, maintain and repair equipment per established procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Coordinate the work of contractors when required.
• Liaise with event managers and clients during events regarding technical requirements.
• Read blueprints and understand technical manuals.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
