Job summary

Thrive Freeze Dry in Langley, BC is seeking a meticulous Ammonia Certified Technician for the night shift on a 12-hour rotational schedule, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. You will inspect and maintain Freeze Dry System equipment, troubleshoot refrigeration systems, perform preventive tasks, and support safety and SQF compliance.

Candidates need 4th Class Power Engineering Certification, at least two years in ammonia or freon operation, strong safety awareness, and the ability to lift 50

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain high accuracy.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding tasks (lifting, bending, climbing).
  • Proficient with basic computer tools (Word/Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and perform daily maintenance of all equipment.
  • Measure and troubleshoot temperature, pressure, and fuel flow.
  • Ensure system start-up and shutdown operations are maintained.
  • Implement corrective actions and minor repairs to prevent failures.
  • Manage the daily lubrication and other equipment tasks.
  • Keep the workspace clean after repairs.
  • Complete daily, weekly or monthly reporting as required.
  • Assist in developing operation, maintenance and safety procedures.
  • In absence of ammonia lead, serve as backup to meet SQF and safety objectives.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Job description

Thrive Freeze Dry, a rapidly growing freeze-dried manufacturing company is recruiting for a detailed oriented and organized Ammonia Certified Technician for our office in Langley BC reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This opportunity is for the night shift and follows a 12-hour rotational schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspection and daily maintenance of all equipment (Freeze Dry System & others)
  • Measure and troubleshoot temperature, pressure, and fuel flow, detect leaks or other equipment failures
  • Ensure the system start-up and shutdown operations are maintained
  • Implement corrective actions and minor repairs to prevent equipment or system failure
  • Manage the daily lubrications and other daily equipment tasks
  • Manage the workspace to be clear and clean after repairs
  • Complete all daily, weekly or monthly reporting as required
  • Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures
  • In the absence of, the ammonia lead serves as back up to this position to ensure all food safety, quality objectives and SQF system requirements are met.
  • Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • 4th Class Power Engineering Certification is a must
  • Minimum two years of experience in ammonia or freon refrigeration operation or power engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical maintenance, applying knowledge and skills on a daily basis.
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and the ability to perform duties in compliance with legislated safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Capable of performing physical tasks, such as lifting at least 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting.
  • Comfortable working in temperature-controlled, refrigerated, or chilled environments.
