Job summary

This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only.

Reporting to the Director General (Director), the Human Resources Officer (Officer) is responsible for providing a range of human resources support services tailored to the CSFN’s operations, its staff, and schools. More specifically, the incumbent will be involved in:

  1. Human resources planning, recruitment, and preparation of staffing requests;
  2. Casual staffing, relief, and replacement measures;
  3. Preparation of essential documentation (e.g., interim pay and release request forms);
  4. The provision of high-quality HR services/support throughout the region.

The incumbent will work with the Director and others as needed (e.g., school principals) to ensure that human resources and school requirements/needs are addressed in a timely, effective, and efficient manner. They will ensure that the CSFN respects/meets the requirements set out in the Education Act and its regulations, the Financial Administration Manual (FAM), the Human Resources Manual, contribution agreements, collective agreements, and all other relevant legislation, regulations, policies, directives, procedures, etc. The incumbent will also assist the CSFN in applying its administrative directives and ensure that services and support reflect the principles of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ).

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized college diploma in Human Resources or a related field, plus three (3) years of progressive experience in human resources or a related field. The ability to communicate in French is a requirement; the ability to communicate in Inuktitut will be considered an asset.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English, and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of these languages. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are assets.
