About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Human Resources Manager to lead and support the full employee life cycle across our growing workforce in British Columbia and Alberta. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys both strategic planning and hands-on execution, with responsibility for talent acquisition, employee relations, payroll and benefits administration, performance management, health and safety, compliance, training, and HR policy development.

As a trusted advisor to leadership and employees, you will help shape a positive, compliant, and engaging workplace culture while building practical HR programs that support Martello’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Talent Acquisition and Onboarding: Lead full-cycle recruitment, including posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, supporting hiring decisions, and delivering a smooth onboarding experience for new employees.
  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance to managers and employees on workplace matters, performance concerns, conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary processes, and terminations while ensuring fair and consistent practices.
  • Payroll, Benefits, and Leave Administration: Administer payroll processes, employee benefits, vacation, sick leave, and related employee programs accurately and in compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Performance Management and Employee Development: Coordinate performance review processes, develop and implement goal setting and feedback practices, and identify opportunities for training, development, and leadership support.
  • Policy Development and Compliance: Develop, update, and maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, employment agreements, code of conduct materials, and HR-related documentation in alignment with company needs and legislative requirements.
  • Health and Safety: Manage and support workplace health and safety programs, training, documentation, and compliance across BC and Alberta operations.
  • HR Strategy and Operations: Partner with leadership to align HR initiatives with business goals, support workforce planning, maintain employee records, manage HR communications, and recommend improvements to HR systems and processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in human resources, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in a generalist or HR management capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment standards, human rights, privacy, and workplace health and safety requirements in British Columbia and Alberta.
  • Experience supporting employee relations matters, performance management, investigations, and workplace policy interpretation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and comfort working with HR, payroll, or business systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with employees, managers, and senior leaders across multiple locations.
  • Professional, discreet, and approachable, with a commitment to providing responsive and practical HR support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPHR designation or progress toward designation.
  • Experience with payroll and benefits administration in a multi-provincial environment.
  • Experience in real estate, property management, professional services, or another multi-site business environment.
  • Knowledge of Yardi Voyager or similar business systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience improving HR processes, implementing HR systems, or developing employee programs.
What We Offer
  • A full-time, hybrid role based from our downtown Vancouver office.
  • The opportunity to lead and shape HR programs within a growing, established company.
  • A collaborative team environment with direct access to leadership.
