Job description

We’re seeking an adaptable, resourceful, and people-focused HR Manager to help us build and scale our HR function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role will be responsible for managing all aspects of human resources, from daily administration to strategic guidance, while also directly managing an HR Generalist supporting our data center operations.

As part of a growing company in startup mode, this is a roll-up-your-sleeves role where you’ll blend operational tasks with opportunities to shape programs, processes, and policies that will scale with us.

What You’ll Be Contributing:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the HR function, including employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, and compliance.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders and employees on HR matters, ensuring alignment with company culture, values, and objectives.
  • Manage and mentor one HR Generalist, providing direction and support for their onsite responsibilities.
  • Drive the development and implementation of HR processes, programs, and policies appropriate for a growing organization.
  • Oversee recruiting efforts in partnership with hiring managers, supporting workforce planning and talent acquisition needs.
  • Handle and support administrative HR tasks, including preparing documentation, managing records, and maintaining HRIS data — especially in the early stages of function development.
  • Contribute to organizational development efforts, including onboarding, engagement, training, and performance feedback processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and evolving best practices across jurisdictions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance and Operations to align HR strategies with broader business goals.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
  • HR certification (e.g., CHRP, SHRM-CP, or similar) is an asset.
  • Experience supporting remote and onsite teams across different geographies is a plus.
  • A flexible, can-do attitude and willingness to wear multiple hats in a startup environment.
  • Proven experience building or scaling HR processes in small or growing companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both strategic initiatives and operational details.
  • Strong coaching and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, inclusive approach.
  • Solid understanding of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.

Why Join Us:

This is your chance to shape the employee experience at a pivotal time in our company’s growth. You’ll play a key role in building the HR foundation and creating a workplace where people can thrive, all while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your voice and ideas will matter from day one.

Note to Applicants:
This recruitment is being managed by Hypertec on behalf of our partner organization, 5C. If selected, you will be hired directly by the partner company and will be joining their team as an HR Manager. We are supporting them in identifying top talent to help scale their people operations during a period of exciting growth.
