Job summary

The HR Generalist at New Afton, located near Kamloops, BC, supports a safety‑conscious, values‑driven mining operation. You will uphold confidentiality and partner with site leadership to administer HR policies and recruitment while promoting an engaging workplace.

Working in a hybrid model, you will maintain HRIS, prepare reports, support onboarding, and assist with full recruitment cycles. A Bachelor in HR and 3+ years' experience are preferred; SAP/SharePoint/SuccessFactors assets are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in HR or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of Human Resource experience in a variety of HR functions.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required.
• Experience with SAP, SharePoint and SuccessFactors is considered an asset.
• Preference will be given to candidates pursuing CPHR designation.

• Build and maintain a professional relationship between site employees, site leadership and HR with confidentiality and teamwork.
• Provide guidance to employees and leadership regarding HR policies, procedures and legislation.
• Maintain HRIS systems and generate reports.
• Assist with the planning, coordination and deployment of HR policies, guidelines and practices.
• Manage full recruitment lifecycle and onboarding support.
• Collaborate across teams to foster a strong, collaborative workplace.

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 105,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. Position Overview

The HR Generalist works with a team that prioritizes integrity in managing confidential issues with tact and discretion. Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a professional relationship between site employees, site leadership and human resourcesby ensuring a sense ofconfidentiality, mutual trust, respect and teamwork
• Provide guidance to employees and department leadership teams regarding Human Resources policies, procedures and legislation
• Familiarity with employment legislation including Employment Standards, Labour Code, HumanRights and Privacy
• Ability to create and deliver presentations and training to various audiences
• Maintain HRIS systems and otherrecords
• Provide analytical support by generating reports and consolidating data
• Assist with the planning, coordination and deployment of HR policies, guidelinesand practices
• Work with department leadership to establish recruitment requirements and manage and participate in the full cycle of the recruitment process
• Support onboarding of new employees to the organization’s culture and processes
• Support the strong team environment across the organization through collaboration, exceptional customer serviceand proactive problem-solving
• Other activities as needed to support the HR Team and New Afton site
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in HR or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years of Human Resource experience in a variety of HR functions
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required
• A well developed communicator who is able to operate effectively and professionally within the organization
• Highly ethical and able to deal with confidential issues with tact and discretion
• An out-of-the-box problem solver, analytical thinker
• Able to demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands and deadlines
• Previous systems experience using SAP, SharePoint and SuccessFactors considered an asset.
• Preference will be given to candidates who are working towards their Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
  

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

• Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
• Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
• Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $78,000 to $85,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
