AV Group NB Inc. Atholville Mill is seeking an HR Generalist to support the Human Resources Manager in driving initiatives, administering programs and policies, and promoting a high-performance culture in a fast-paced environment.

The role covers recruitment for salaried and union positions, HR program delivery, maintaining records, supporting labour relations, training, and reporting to assist strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

  • University degree plus 1–5 years HR experience preferred; recent graduates considered.
  • CHRP designation (or equivalent) asset in progress or willingness to obtain.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Excel and HRIS experience; proficient with Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating in a team.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for salaried and unionized positions, including postings, screening, interviews, references, onboarding and orientation.
  • Support delivery and improvement of HR programs, policies and initiatives promoting engagement and organizational effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data and confidential documentation in line with policies and laws.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and supervisors on policies and procedures.
  • Assist with administration and interpretation of collective agreements and bargaining preparation.
  • Coordinate training, development, performance management, recognition and retention initiatives.
  • Assist with administration of benefits and compensation programs.
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics and documentation to support compliance and decision-making.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and HR-related special initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Human Resources Generalist – HR Department
Role Overview

Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the HR Generalist will play a key role in the HR department. The successful candidate will assist in driving human resources initiatives and administering programs/policies that will promote a positive high-performance culture. This fast-paced environment will be both challenging and rewarding. The ideal candidate must have a desire to succeed and grow while utilizing their service driven personality.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process for salaried and unionized positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of Human Resources programs, policies, and initiatives that promote employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, HRIS data, and other confidential HR documentation in compliance with company policies and legislative requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, employment standards, and workplace practices.
  • Support positive labour relations by assisting with the administration and interpretation of collective agreements, grievance processes, and collective bargaining preparation.
  • Coordinate and support employee training, organizational development, performance management, employee recognition, and retention initiatives.
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits and compensation programs.
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation to support compliance, operational needs, and strategic decision-making.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects that enhance HR services and support business objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
  • University degree combined with 1 to 5 years’ Human Resources experience is preferred; however, recent graduates will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
  • CHRP designation (or equivalent), in progress or willingness to obtain, is considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with experience using HRIS platforms; intermediate Excel proficiency is required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Experience in a Unionized manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
