Job description

As an HRBP your role will include:

Talent Management

  1. Develop a thorough understanding of divisional workforce plans and proactively ensure job postings are current and reflect business requirements.
  2. Schedule and hold interviews, negotiate, and roll out offers and complete onboarding documentation on HRIS.
  3. Evaluate candidates by utilizing competency-based interviewing and scoring framework.
  4. Ensure requisition to hire process is followed for all open positions.
  5. Lead in person HR orientations for spring start ups and regular works.
  6. Proactively plan and organize day 1, week 1 and probationary review activities to seamlessly onboard and integrate new employees.
  7. Participate and support hiring managers through the 30-60-90-day probationary review phase.
  8. Develop a strong understanding of competency maps and career paths within Miller to coach and guide employees.
  9. Implement the performance management program for salaried and key hourly roles.
  10. Identify, nominate, and track participation in training based on identified performance gaps at both individual and business levels.

Labour/Employee Relations

  1. Serve as the first point of contact for HR related enquiries including policies, programs, payroll, vacation entitlement, employment verification, benefits and pension.
  2. Partner with ops to increase participation in engagement surveys, communicate the results with employee groups and monitor action items and ensure they are closed within the allocated time.
  3. Ensure Miller policy, contractual obligations and best practices are adhered to while investigating and disciplining employees.
  4. Respond to general inquiries on policies and processes; escalate issues as needed for timely resolution.
  5. Educate and coach employees and ops managers on their rights and obligations to maintain a harmonious workplace so everyone feels physically and psychologically safe and empowered to do their best work.

Corporate Governance

As the subject matter expert, educate and coach employees and managers on Colas and Miller group policies and code of ethics interpretation and application.

What you'll bring:
  1. A degree or diploma in Business Administration and/or a Human Resources related discipline.
  2. CHRP designation or Candidate.
  3. 5+ years of relevant HR work experience within a Human Resources department with at least 3 years in an HR Generalist capacity.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with HRIS.
  5. Ability to influence, establish rapport and work with a diverse group of senior management and staff within a variety of businesses, as well as with management and staff in business unit head offices and corporate office.
  6. Proven experience working with both structured and unstructured organizations and matrixed environments.
  7. High energy, a strong work ethic, resiliency, versatility and flexibility with a results orientation.
  8. Knowledge and experience with Labor relations, employment standards and human rights legislation.
  9. Ability to travel.
  10. Valid drivers’ licence and car to effectively support the travel requirements of the job.
