Primary Location : Hamilton, ON (onsite daily)
Reports To: Director, Human Resources

What will your typical day look like:

Working very closely with the Operations Manager and team in our Hamilton facility, you will play the key role of HR business partner, utilizing a broad breadth of HR skills and knowledge to provide support and strategic business thinking in an operational setting. The incumbent will provide expertise, guidance and support on all Human Resources activities including, but not limited to, recruitment and retention, compensation and benefit administration, employee relations, and organizational development.

In this role you will:

  1. Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, focused on operations, within client groups and provide your expertise in HR related matters.
  2. Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources and the HR team to ensure alignment of programs and policies with overall strategic direction of organization.
  3. Champion progressive employee/employer relations principles.
  4. Coordinate, administer and facilitate the performance management and talent management for employees.
  5. Support the execution of HR strategies, policies, procedures, and programs to sustain continued growth and retention.
  6. Respond to questions from management and employees on a wide variety of HR matters and escalate higher level and serious matters to Director of HR.
  7. Facilitate day-to-day employee relations, including complaint resolution.
  8. Provide support and assist with benefit related questions and concerns, claims resolutions, and any disability/transitional work management programs.
  9. Partner with our Talent Acquisition Team on recruitment and provide onboarding support to hiring managers.
  10. Assist in implementing various HR initiatives, including providing recommendations on process and program improvements.
  11. Lead the organizing of corporate events such as fundraising campaigns and holiday parties; actively participate in Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
  12. Other ad hoc projects as assigned by Management.
  13. Occasional business travel to other sites and corporate office as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary degree in Human Resources; CHRP or equivalent experience required.
  2. Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience including:
  3. hands-on HR leadership role
  4. experience in a manufacturing environment CPG industry (food industry an asset)
  5. Health & Safety experience an asset
  6. Working knowledge of Employment Standards, Human Rights, WSIB, and Labour legislation required
  7. Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of how to balance the needs of the business with positive employee engagement.
  8. Excellent communication skills combined with demonstrated problem solving ability.
  9. Results oriented, self-starter with exceptional interpersonal skills who can influence and coach others effectively.
  10. Superior collaborative and teamwork skills with the ability to quickly shift priorities to meet organization requirements collectively.
  11. Strong professionalism and diplomacy pertaining to all areas of discretion and confidentiality.
  12. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and HCM systems.
  13. Experience in a Time & Attendance environment and background with Ceridian Dayforce an asset.
