Altis in Ottawa is seeking a bilingual HR Assistant for an 18-month contract within the post-secondary education sector. You will support employees throughout their employment journey, balancing administrative tasks with meaningful HR support.

You will maintain accurate records in the HRIS, assist with recruitment and onboarding, handle confidential information, and provide timely payroll and reporting support.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of HR experience in administration or related role.
  • Post-secondary education in HR, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Bilingual communication in English and French, written and verbal.

Your Responsibilities
  • You’ll provide day-to-day administrative support to the Human Resources team, including preparing documentation, maintaining files, and coordinating HR activities
  • You’ll support recruitment and onboarding by scheduling interviews, preparing employment documentation, and assisting with new hire processes
  • You’ll maintain accurate employee information within the HR information system and ensure records remain current and confidential
  • You’ll respond to employee inquiries and provide timely support on HR-related requests
  • You’ll assist with payroll administration by entering data and supporting reporting requirements
  • You’ll prepare reports, monitor HR documentation, and contribute to ongoing HR projects and process improvements
Skills and Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience in human resources, administration, or a related support role
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bilingual communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal
  • Experience providing excellent customer service in a professional environment
  • Experience using an HRIS, ADP, or a similar system is considered an asset
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information
