Overview
As a member of the military, Human Resources Administrators provide administrative and general human resources support to all military activities.
The primary duties of a Human Resources Administrator include:
Work environment
Human Resources Administrators are employed at CAF bases across Canada, on ships, and overseas, supporting the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, or Royal Canadian Air Force. They may serve in special operation units, medical organizations, recruiting offices, schools, reserve units, NATO/UN positions, and other specialized units. Opportunities also exist with Canadian embassies abroad.
If you join the Regular Force, you will be posted to your first base after training, with possible relocations. The Primary Reserve Force offers part-time employment with a specific Reserve unit, usually involving one night per week and some weekends, with options for full-time employment and deployment.
Entry requirements
No prior experience or skills are required. The minimum education requirement is the completion of Grade 10 or Secondary 4, including Grade 10 Applied Math and English or French. Foreign education may be accepted.
Training
Initial training includes the Basic Military Qualification course at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School. Human Resources Administrators attend the Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre for 90 days, learning various administrative processes and systems. Further specialized training and courses are available for career progression.
Part-time options
Part-time roles are available for the Primary Reserve at various locations, serving part-time in the community, with opportunities for full-time positions, deployment, and volunteering for relocations. Reserve members are paid and receive benefits comparable to the Regular Force.
