Job summary

Solstice Environmental Management is seeking an experienced Human Resources Administrator to support our growing team in Edmonton, Alberta. This in-person role focuses on day-to-day HR services, staff support, and partnering with an external HR consultant to ensure compliant, effective processes.

You'll manage recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance initiatives, and policy administration while mentoring junior staff and helping build a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Knowledge of Alberta employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and general HR administration.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience providing guidance, coaching, or mentorship to colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, development, and offboarding.
  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation with confidentiality.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities: postings, screening, interviews, references.
  • Assist managers and employees with HR-related questions.
  • Support performance management and employee development initiatives.
  • Maintain/update HR policies, forms, and templates.
  • Collaborate with external HR consultant on complex matters.
  • Foster a positive employee-focused workplace culture.

Position Type: Full-Time, In-Person

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working independently, building strong relationships with employees and leaders, and helping others grow. The successful candidate will serve as a key internal HR resource while providing mentorship and guidance to staff.

While we are looking for someone with solid HR experience and practical judgment, we do not expect candidates to have all the answers. Solstice works with an external HR consultant who provides expert guidance and support on complex HR matters, allowing this role to focus on delivering effective day-to-day HR services and supporting our team.

This is an in-person position located in Edmonton, Alberta. Candidates must be able to work on-site and actively engage with employees and leaders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Administration
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee development, and offboarding.
  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and reference checks.
  • Assist managers and employees with HR-related questions and concerns.
  • Support performance management processes and employee development initiatives.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, forms, and templates.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and workplace culture programs.
  • Ensure HR practices align with applicable employment legislation and company policies.
  • Prepare HR reports, workforce data, and other documentation as required.
  • Participate in projects focused on organizational effectiveness and continuous improvement.
Mentorship and Team Development
  • Provide guidance and day-to-day support to the Junior Business Analyst (HR).
  • Assist with prioritization, training, and development of HR-related skills.
  • Review work, provide feedback, and encourage professional growth.
  • Collaborate on projects and initiatives that enhance HR processes and reporting.
Collaboration and Support
  • Build trusted relationships with employees and leaders across the organization.
  • Provide practical HR guidance and recommendations on routine employee matters.
  • Work collaboratively with Solstice's external HR consultant on complex employee relations, compliance, and policy matters.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and employee-focused workplace culture.
Qualifications
Required
