Job description

We are seeking a Junior Operational Accountant to join our in-office Edmonton team. Reporting directly to the Accounting Lead, this is an ideal opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who wants hands‑on exposure to all aspects of accounting and business operations.

This role is approximately 70% accounting responsibilities and 30% operational support. You will play an important part in keeping our financial processes running smoothly while supporting the broader team as needed.

Full training will be provided — we’re looking for the right attitude and work ethic more than specific prior experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
  • Accounting:
  • -Day‑to‑day entries into the accounting system (GL entries, invoices, payments, journal entries as directed).
  • -Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations.
  • -Generate routine AP and AR reports, distribute them to leadership, and flag issues (overdue accounts, unusual items).
  • Communications and General Assistance
  • -Provide general assistance to the leadership team and project teams (document formatting, simple data pulls, admin support).
  • Data Management and Systems
  • -Perform data entry and ensure data consistency between time‑tracking, HR, and finance systems.
  • -Handle general data management: keep records current, clean up duplicates, maintain structured folders and naming conventions, and support basic reporting from these data sets.
  • -Other duties as assigned & assist with Day-to-Day administration activities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • -A recent graduate with an accounting degree or diploma
  • -Based in or able to reliably work on‑site in Edmonton, Alberta
  • -A genuine “people person” with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • -Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • -Eager to learn, adaptable, and excited to take on new and varied tasks
  • -Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
  • -Strong ability to learn and adopt new software quickly — comfort with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) will be a key factor for success in this role
  • -No prior accounting or industry experience required — training will be provided
