Job summary

Gerdau is seeking an experienced Human Resource Generalist II for our Selkirk, MB facility. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will support employees, foster positive workplace relationships, and deliver efficient HR services across our Manitoba operations—including Mill, Recycling, Bradley and MFT.

The role requires 5–7 years of HR experience, strong knowledge of HR policy and employment law, and excellent communication. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • CPHR or an undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, policies, employment legislation and best practices of HR administration.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of Human Resource experience.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment operating on a 24/7 schedule is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer human resources plans and procedures for all location personnel.
  • Coordinate employee communication to promote understanding of programs and policies.
  • Counsel supervisory personnel on employee relations, discipline and grievance resolution.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts and support hiring managers in selection.
  • Ensure fair interpretation and application of wage and salary policy.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and collaborate with the corporate training team.
  • Administer employee benefits and communicate details to staff.
  • Coordinate performance reviews and performance improvement processes.
  • Coordinate career and succession planning cycles and local development committees.
  • Maintain adequate personnel records and participate in goal setting and policy compliance.

Job summary:


Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, we are looking for an experienced HR professional with a collaborative approach to supporting employees, fostering positive workplace relationships and delivering efficient HR services at Gerdau's Manitoba operations - Mill, Recycling, Bradley and MFT.


Responsibilities:



  • H R Policies /Procedures - Develop / Implement / Administer human resources plans and procedures for all location personnel

  • Communications - Coordinate employee communication to promote employee understanding of programs, policies and objectives

  • Employee / Labour Relations - Counsel supervisory personnel on employee relation matters, including employee discipline and resolution of employee grievances

  • Recruitment and Selection - Conduct recruitment effort for open positions and support hiring managers in the selection process

  • Compensation - Ensure uniform interpretation and application of wage and salary policy to provide internally equitable employee compensation

  • Training and Development - Assist in identifying training needs and work with corporate training team to implement programs

  • Benefits - Perform benefits administration and communicating benefits information to employees

  • Performance Management - Coordinate performance reviews and performance improvement processes for all employees

  • Career and Succession (C&S) - Coordinate C&S cycles, local people development committees

  • Record Keeping - Establish and maintain adequate personnel records for past and present employees

  • Goal Setting - Participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems

  • Compliance - Maintain compliance with provincial and federal regulations concerning employment


Requirements:
