Job summary

Mondelez Canada seeks a proactive HSE leader to guide the plant's Health, Safety & Environmental initiatives. You will develop policies, lead the HSE team, and drive zero-incident performance while ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.

The role requires strong incident investigation skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage change in a fast-paced manufacturing setting in Ontario. Regular in-person site presence is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • CRSP/CSP certification is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Experience with OSHA/EPA regulations and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Lead and mentor site HSE team and promote a culture of safety.

How You Will Contribute

You will:



  • Assist and lead the cultural transformation regarding HSE to help lead plant to achieve Zero accidents and Incidents

  • Be responsible for coordinating and overseeing implementation of all Health & Safety programs and processes

  • Participate in investigations to facilitate closure of identified non-conformances

  • Provide Health and Safety expertise for the plant for all new projects and change management activities

  • Follow up on non-conformances and develops the systems to resolve them based on root cause analysis

  • Maintain an up-to‑date incident reporting system, assist with investigating incidents in conjunction with the HSE Pillar team/safety committee and drive the completion of corrective actions to eliminate root causes/reoccurrence

  • Develop technical guidance programs to identify and remove physical hazards


What You Will Bring

  • Experience in Environmental Health and Safety

  • Must have completed Environmental Health and Safety training in areas such as OSHA, EPA, DNREC

  • Experience in safety, and/or environmental technical standards

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels

  • Understanding and knowledge of regulatory reports and compliances including experience with ISO


Preferred Experience


  • Background in manufacturing at least 4 - 5 years of expereince.

  • Experience in people management (direct reports or cross functionally)

  • Experience with Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S) is a plus.

Education / Certifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or equivalent are desirable however NOT mandatory.


Job Specific Requirements


  • Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Provide strategic and tactical leadership from a HSE perspective to support business performance. Develop and deploy strategies to reduce HSE risks at the facility.

  • Manage and mentor site HSE team.

  • Promote and foster a culture of safety, wellbeing and environmental sustainability across the plant.

  • Drive innovations and excellence by creating a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations & Utilize the Bradley Curve to benchmark and measure safety performance, identifying areas for improvement

  • Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Provide training and support to employees on safety protocols and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous safety improvement.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into all aspects of operations and promote teamwork and collective responsibility for HSE.

  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and report findings to senior management.

  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.

  • Act as company representative in dealing with regulatory agencies on HSE matters.


Travel Requirements


  • Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, or site visits.


Work schedule


  • This role is required to attend have in person attendance at the Plant. Hours of work are Standard Business Hours with Occasional Flexibility Required to Support a 24/5 Operation.


Salary and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position is $93,300 to $116,650 CAD depending on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in a highly competitive bonus program with a target of 10% with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results. Mondelez also offers several generous employee benefits (some subsidized or fully paid for by the company), including health insurance, wellness and family support programs, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plans, paid leave programs, education related programs, and enhanced vacation and holiday entitlements.
