Job summary

Sun Life is seeking an HR Senior Systems Analyst to administer and optimize the HCM and HRIS landscape. You will partner with HR, IT and payroll to support operations, reporting and compliance while driving process improvements and data integrity.

You will lead data-driven initiatives, mentor team members, and ensure secure, compliant HR technology usage within a flexible hybrid work model across Canada. A strong focus on stakeholder collaboration and measurable outcomes is essential.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Workday configuration in 1+ modules.
  • Familiarity with Jira or ServiceNow ticket tools.
  • Understanding of data governance and operating guidelines.
  • Experience with Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, planning).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; intermediate Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with focus on data accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication across departments.

  • Resolve HR technology issues and perform troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with IT/vendors on upgrades, patches and implementations.

Job Description

The HR Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for the effective administration, support, and optimization of the organization’s Human Capital Management (HCM) system and other HR Information Systems. This role ensures that our systems are configured, maintained, and leveraged to support HR operations, reporting, compliance and overall business goals. The HR Systems Analyst works within an HRDS team and partners closely with HR, IT, payroll, benefits, and other stakeholders. Examples of responsibilities include delivering capabilities from idea to implementation, mentoring other HRDS team members, streamlining processes, upholding operating standards, and delivering actionable insights balancing risk and digital employee experience.

What will you do?
  • As part of a team, deliver capabilities from idea to implementation while working daily with stakeholders
  • Manage and track HR system related service and/or product enhancement requests and incidents through Jira (or other ticketing system) ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with stakeholders in accordance with our operating guidelines
  • Resolve HR technology related issues, troubleshooting, and system issues
  • Partner with HR and business teams to identify process improvements and system enhancements
  • Maintain data integrity through regular audits, testing, and system updates
  • Partner and/or support cyclical HR processes such as talent management, compensation planning, and benefits administration
  • Document processes, provide training materials, and host user training sessions for stakeholders
  • Collaborate with IT or vendors on system upgrades/releases, patches, and implementations
  • Ensure HR data security and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Stay current on HR technology trends and best practices to recommend system enhancements
What will you need to succeed?
  • 2+ years of experience with Workday systems configuration in 1 or more Workday modules
  • Familiarity with ticket management tools such as Jira or Service Now
  • Understanding of data governance, operating guidelines, and quality engineering best practices
  • Experience, or ability to adapt and learn, in participating in agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and planning initiatives
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and intermediate level with Excel
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
