Science North is seeking an HR Operations and Employee Experience Specialist in Sudbury, ON. The role covers employee engagement, benefits administration, recruitment, safety, and HR systems support within a collaborative team.

You will partner with leaders to enhance the employee lifecycle, drive a positive workplace culture, and deliver high-quality HR services from the office location at 100 Ramsey Lake Road. A degree or diploma and 1–3 years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma or equivalent experience.
• Experience in multiple HR functions (employee relations, benefits, safety, learning, recruitment).
• Able to build relationships with staff and leaders across levels.
• Strong organizational and project coordination abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of employment standards and health & safety legislation.
• Experience with HRIS is an asset.

HR Operations and Employee Experience Specialist

$47,300 - $56,000 per year, full-time permanent, generous benefits package

As Canada’s second largest science centre, Science North operates a multi-faceted operation in Sudbury, Ontario, along with a thriving International Sales business and bases of operations in Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Our Human Resources and Organization Development team work together to grow, develop and serve our greatest resource. We are looking to add to our team with the addition of an HR Operations and Employee Experience Specialist.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Organizational Development Operations, you will work alongside a team of professionals to navigate a diverse and exciting portfolio. In this role, you will contribute to a broad Human Resources portfolio that includes employee experience, talent acquisition, benefits administration, health and safety, employee recognition, HR systems support and organizational programs. You will work across the employee lifecycle and partner with leaders and employees to help create an exceptional workplace experience. In order to be successful, you will ideally have a degree in a related discipline and 1-3 years’ experience working within a similar portfolio. As part of the team, you will also support numerous other initiatives and programs in our highly collaborative team. You’ll support managers and employees through various workforce and employment‑related matters in collaboration with the broader HR team. This is a permanent full‑time opportunity based at 100 Ramsey Lake Road, Sudbury and is not suitable for remote work.

Position highlights:

• Oversee employee engagement and administer recognition events, programs and platforms; support cross‑functional teams in development and execution of similar initiatives
• Coordinate and administer employee benefits and pension programs, respond to concerns and provide information and education
• Lead recruitment activities across the organization and partner with hiring leaders to attract top talent.
• Recommend innovative sourcing and talent attraction strategies
• Develop and maintain job postings and recruitment marketing materials
• Maintain recruitment branding hubs and job boards
• Work with the team to maximize employment grant cycles, application, implementation and reporting
• Work in conjunction with the Manager of Risk and cross‑functional teams to address health and safety needs, concerns and initiatives
• Execute WSIB reporting and follow‑ups
• Conduct or arrange for safety/health related training; maintain records and data base of employee training, licenses, certifications
• Support staff in navigating necessary HR systems in collaboration with team members

Qualifications:

• A post‑secondary degree and/or diploma that lends to the position or equivalent experience
• Experience supporting multiple Human Resources functions such as employee relations, benefits administration, HR operations, employee engagement, health and safety, learning and development or talent acquisition
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with employees and leaders across all levels of an organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across a diverse HR portfolio
• Strong administrative, organizational and project coordination skills
• Exceptional communication and advanced interpersonal skills
• Knowledge and experience with employment standards, occupational health and safety and other related legislation
• Demonstrated aptitude for problem‑solving, planning, and communicating
• Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with a large team of stakeholders with a service excellence standard
• Self‑motivated with ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
• A valid G driver’s license in good standing with a 3‑year clean driving abstract
• Computer skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Experience with HRIS systems considered an asset
