As the HR Generalist, you will be an integral member of the People and Culture team. This role plays a key role in supporting Restaurant Operators across a wide range of employee relations, compliance, health and safety, onboarding, offboarding, and policy matters. This role is the first point of contact for employee concerns, guiding leaders through sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment. With a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, you will navigate complex and sometimes ambiguous scenarios, balancing business needs with fair and consistent practices. Success in this role requires integrity, adaptability, critical thinking, and a passion for building a strong, value-driven workplace culture.
Wage Range
$65,000-$75,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Restaurant Operators on HR-related inquiries, including Health & Safety Programs, Injury Management, Employment Standards, and Employee Relations.
- Be the first point of contact for HR Operations teams on Employee Relations matters.
- Collaborate with managers to resolve performance or conduct concerns in a fair and legally compliant manner.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on handling sensitive employee situations while minimizing risk.
- Avoid and minimize legal risks and challenges by understanding and maintaining up-to-date legislation; educating managers; recommending best practices; and assisting in training others.
- Manage employee documentation, files, and company policies.
- Oversee management of People Systems and onboarding systems administration.
- Maintain employee documentation and reporting for compliance-related matters and policies.
- Collaborate with managers and legal counsel to resolve compliance risks or other issues.
- Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance.
- Support leaders and employees in understanding and applying HR policies.
- Participate in onboarding and offboarding processes with the People and Culture Team.
- Monitor and track compliance with Health and Safety policies in Canadian stores; act as the key liaison between restaurants and injury management partners.
- Oversee Injury Management Program and claims management.
- Support with Work Permit and Immigration inquiries.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources or a related field.
- Post-secondary education.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High integrity with the ability to handle employee relations confidentially and professionally.
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to think logically and compliantly.
- Forward-thinking with a proactive approach to potential risks and resolutions.
- Critical thinking skills; ability to analyze and evaluate complex problems with sound judgment.
Preferences may be given to applicants with experience in the hospitality industry.
