Job Description
The Human ResourceGeneralist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, includinghiring and interviewing staff, managing the performance review process andenforcing company policies and practices.
Responsibilities
- Develops and promotes workplace culture focused on thevalues of the Company. This includes strong HR and Safety values.
- Recruits, interviews and facilitates the hiring ofqualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmentmanagers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Represents Western Tractor at job fairs, company eventsand community events for the purposes of employee recruitment.
- Liaises with community partners and school careerresources for the purpose of establishing talent pipelines.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employeeeligibility verifications.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and executehuman resource programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters;disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; criticalincident response, productivity, recognition, and morale; and training anddevelopment.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatoryand non-mandatory training, continuing education and work assessments.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognitionprograms.
- Responsible for disability case management includingSTD/LTD and WCB.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants,employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to theappropriate staff.
- Maintains compliance with employment laws and regulationsand recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintaincompliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
- Works with Department Managers, Health and Safety Officersand payroll and benefits administrator on employee matters.
- Collaborates with the payroll and benefits coordinator asneeded with compensation, benefits, and leave.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, BusinessAdministration or related field required
- At least 3 years of human resource management experienceis preferred
- CPHR or CPHR eligibility
- Valid class 5 driver's license
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws andregulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or relatedsoftware
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn theorganization’s HRIS and talent management systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflictresolution skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability tomeet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them whenappropriate
