Job summary

The City of Laval is seeking a qualified payroll and accounting professional to monitor accounts receivable related to workplace accident files and to perform certain payroll tasks for employees on disability. This role is hybrid with standard daytime hours in Laval.

Ideal candidates hold a DEC in accounting or related training and have at least three years of relevant experience, with strong computer systems skills and the ability to collaborate across internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor accounts receivable related to workplace accident files (SAAQ and IVAQ).
• Perform payroll-related tasks for employees on disability.
• Follow up on income replacement benefit collections after a workplace accident.
• Reconcile and analyze CNESST, SAAQ, and IVAQ files, address discrepancies.
• Bill and recover amounts from employees and CNESST.
• Calculate waiting periods for employees on long-term disability.
• Perform complex payroll calculations for CNESST, SAAQ, and IVAQ.
• Transfer payroll files between CNESST and illness processes.

The challenges that await you

Under the supervision of the division head – payroll, internal control, and group insurance, you will be responsible for monitoring accounts receivable related to workplace accident files (SAAQ and IVAQ). Additionally, you will perform certain payroll-related tasks for employees who are on disability.

• Ensure follow-up on income replacement benefit collections following a workplace accident;
• Perform reconciliation and analysis of CNESST, SAAQ, and IVAQ files, identifying and addressing discrepancies;
• Ensure billing and recovery from employees and CNESST of amounts receivable;
• Calculate waiting periods for employees on long-term disability;
• Perform complex payroll calculations related to the remuneration of employees under CNESST, SAAQ, and IVAQ:
• Transfer payroll files from CNESST to illness and from illness to CNESST;
• Calculate amounts to recover or pay to employees from SAAQ and IVAQ files;
• Close CNESST files.
