Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including conducting intake meetings with hiring managers, posting roles in ADP (ATS) and external platforms (Indeed, Talent.com, LinkedIn Recruiter), screening applicants, interviewing candidates, and recommending finalists to hiring leaders.
- Lead and manage the co-op/internship program, including recruiting students for work-integrated learning placements and maintaining strong relationships with Ontario-based universities and colleges.
- Create and manage online recruitment campaigns, including determining campaign length, budget, and spending limits.
- Collaborate with store managers to develop job fair advertisements and promote online job fairs.
- Coordinate background checks, security verifications, and offer letter preparation.
- Conduct new hire orientations and ensure new employees receive necessary tools, resources, and system access.
Workforce Planning & Organizational Management
- Partner with business leaders to assess workforce needs, forecast headcount, and support strategic organizational planning.
- Ensure Leon’s organizational chart is continuously updated and accurately reflects current structure, reporting lines, and headcount.
- Maintain up-to-date, professionally drafted job descriptions for all home office and store positions.
Performance Management & Coaching
- Provide guidance to managers on employee performance, progressive discipline, development planning, and effective leadership practices.
- Support the execution of performance management cycles and ensure consistent application of company policies.
- Assist in succession planning and identifying high-potential employees.
Employee Mobility, Immigration & Lifecycle Support
- Advise leaders on employee promotions, transfers, and terminations in compliance with legislation and internal policy.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees requiring immigration support including OINP, LMIA, and other programs.
Training, Learning & Compliance Management
- Set up new hires in the Leon’s Learning Center and assign required training modules.
- Monitor and analyze training completion data; prepare monthly reports for leaders to ensure compliance.
- Partner with the Learning & Development Manager on HR program design, rollout, and improvement.
Employee Relations & Investigations
- Serve as the main HR contact for store and home office employees on employee relations matters.
- Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Support a positive, fair, and inclusive workplace culture.
Disability Management & Accommodations
- Manage STD, LTD, WSIB, and accommodation cases in partnership with Benefits and managers.
- Ensure all cases comply with employment standards and human rights legislation.
Health & Safety Leadership
- Serve as the Worker Co-Chair of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
- Participate in inspections, meetings, and incident reviews, ensuring timely corrective actions.
Employee Communication & Engagement
- Create monthly Leon’s TV communication videos highlighting events, achievements, and updates to keep employees informed and engaged.
- Support broader engagement and culture initiatives across teams.
- collaborating with a third-party editor to ensure high-quality production and alignment with the overall communication strategy.
Policy Governance & Legislative Compliance
- Ensure HR policies are regularly reviewed and updated to align with evolving provincial and federal employment legislation.
- Communication policy changes effectively across the organization.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to HR/LLC administrators, ensuring alignment, development, and consistent delivery of HR support across all locations.
- Oversee workload distribution, quality of work, and professional growth of team members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CHRP/CHRL designation (or working toward it) is an asset.
- Certifications in HR systems, instructional design, or health & safety are considered assets
- Strong knowledge of provincial employment standards, human rights legislation, and Canadian immigration processes.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and motivate teams, fostering continuous growth and development.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a high attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong skills in Word and PowerPoint.
- Resourceful, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience supervising or mentoring HR staff is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation across multiple provinces.
- Experience in full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, and workplace investigations.
- Familiarity with HRIS/ATS systems (Experience with iCIMS, ADP Workforce Now, and Workforce Manager preferred).
- Experience with disability management and accommodation processes.
- Experience with co-op or campus recruitment programs is an asset.

Compensation:
$60,000/yr to $65,000/yr plus (income may vary based on volume and location)
