The Role

As an HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will work closely with our HR team and business stakeholders across the regions where BGC operates. Acting as a trusted advisor at our Montreal office location, the role will align human resources practices with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will have senior-level generalist experience in all aspects of HR, with a deep understanding of Quebec employment law, employee relations and global mobility work. The ability to work collaboratively within BGC's dynamic One Team is critical to success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the HR team to develop and strengthen initiatives by assessing opportunities and risks, driving continuous improvement and supporting BGC's goals and strategies.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to balance our company priorities and organizational goals with local legislation.
  • Provide immigration and visa support, including advising and responding to internal inquiries, visa application processing and ensuring all required documents and information are complete and accurate (i.e. LMIA, Permanent Residency).
  • In collaboration with our stakeholders, support complex employee relations matters, including performance management, coaching, disciplinary actions and conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts in Quebec, to balance staffing levels and operational needs.
  • Lead HR-related projects and initiatives, both within the HR function and cross-functionally.
  • Partner with the health and safety team to ensure compliance with local safety regulations, foster a safe working environment, and promote employee wellness initiatives.

Required Education, Experience & Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant HR experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quebec employment law requirements.
  • Experience with international mobility programs; proven experience processing visas with a good understanding of immigration and mobility processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate and present complex solutions and concepts to internal stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, with the business acumen to share complex ideas and changes and build trusted relationships with stakeholders that are collaborative in nature.
  • Proven ability to manage complex employee relations issues with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Highly adaptable, with the ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in using project management tools for creating and managing project plans and budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze and present data in order to organize work and build buy-in. Must have strong presentation skills for a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Experience with BambooHR or similar HRIS platforms.
  • CRHA designation or working toward.
  • Fluency in French and English required.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer.
