About You:

Alstar is looking for an entry-level HR Associate. The HR Associate is responsible for providing administrative and recruitment support to the HR Manager, facilitating communication between main offices and sites, working with the Calgary-based team to align recruitment, onboarding, ticket tracking, and competency needs, and contributing as part of a high-performing Alstar team. This position requires a strong team player with excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills, strong initiative, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

What we're looking for from you — if this describes you, we'd love to meet!

  • Minimum 12 months experience in a support role
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently
  • Self-directed with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • High degree of competence, reliability, and judgment in all aspects of work
  • Previous experience in oil and gas construction is an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with G-Suite; experience with Google Drive is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of hiring, onboarding, and competency requirements
  • Create job posts for office, shop, and field positions
  • Follow-up on new hire orientation progress
  • Schedule and complete D&A & QFit Mask Tests
  • Create ticket packages for site
  • Update tickets on BISafety
  • Send tickets to Field Admins, Superintendents, Project Managers, or the Client
  • Manage ticket and safety training renewals, including booking courses for ticket renewal
  • Coordinate site requirements for employees changing sites
  • Prepare and send out weekly Ticket Reports for Operations
  • Verify new hires' safety tickets
  • Ensure accurate tracking and documentation
  • Manage apprenticeship tracking
  • Recruitment for all trades positions and entry-level office positions as requested
  • Answer intermediate HR-related questions
  • Coordinate with AIT officers for questions/clarifications
  • Respond to apprenticeship-related inquiries and assist with applications
  • Provide clients with safety and HR statistics
  • Respond to general inquiries via email
  • Administer Service Awards
  • Manage Short Term Disability processes
  • Provide Progressive Discipline consultations
  • Send Canada Life enrollment information for benefits
  • Manage Manulife registration and administration
