Job description

WorkLink Employment Society has a summer opportunity available for a diligent individual aspiring to work in Human Resources. During this 4-month contract, you’ll provide administrative support to a variety of HR functions and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace comprising 40 employees. Working under the guidance of a mentor, your responsibilities will increase as the term goes on and you’ll end the contract with greater confidence and practical knowledge.

This is an onsite position working 30-35 hours per week. The contract will end on September 29, 2025.

Wage: $27/hr

About The Society:

WorkLink has provided government-sponsored employment services to the residents of the Victoria Capital Region’s Westshore (Colwood, Langford, Highlands, View Royal, and Metchosin) since 1978. In 2008, our services expanded to include the communities of Sooke and surrounding areas including Jordan River and Port Renfrew. We are also pleased to provide Indigenous outreach services to the First Nations Communities of Beecher Bay, T’Souke, and Pacheedaht. Our non-profit organization is funded through both federal and provincial government initiatives. WorkLink is a registered charity in the Province of BC, which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors chosen from leaders in the community.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support employee engagement by helping organize team-building events
  • Support employee recognition initiatives by collecting ‘Employee of the Month’ nominations and creating digital certificates
  • Assist with recognizing employee birthdays and work anniversaries
  • Liaise with Marketing to produce content for the monthly employee newsletter
  • Actively participate in the Social Committee and attend monthly meetings
  • Support the recruitment process by distributing job postings, scheduling interviews, and completing reference checks
  • Help coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Ensure employee information is complete by tracking and uploading documents into the HRIS
  • Maintain accurate employee files by performing filing and scanning duties
  • Help maintain a tidy and organized HR inbox
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Other duties as assigned by the People and Culture Supervisor.

  • Are punctual and responsible with a high level of integrity
